Alphabet Quiz Game (ppt download)

You are going to
  • play a game 
  • practise pronouncing the letters of the alphabet
  • test simple vocabulary



Instructions
This ppt game contains moving gifs, sound files and links to pages within the ppt so it should be downloaded as a ppt (see link below).
It is aimed at beginners and young learners and practises alphabet pronunciation and simple vocabulary.
  1. You can play as a group or with 2 teams (there are 2 team pages - "A" and "B" with links). You can either throw a dice and move from A - Z cross the square (Snakes and Ladders) or choose a letter in the left hand column and move to the right (Word Square). Choose what's best for you class.
  2. Choose a letter. Click on the sound symbol to hear the letter. You must pronounce it correctly. You get 1 point.
  3. Click on the letter to go to the page. Say what you see. Click the page again to see the answer. You get 1 point.
  4. Click on the arrow to go back to the team alphabet page and choose another letter.
  5. Who gets the most correct answers?

Whose is it? / Whose are they? - Celebrity Things Quiz (Possessive 'S)

Discuss
When do we use the possessive 'S ?

When we want to show who owns something we usually add 's to a noun or the person's name.

If the name of the person already ends with S we move the  '  (apostrophe) to after the final S of the name.

    What are they doing? - Quiz Game

    You are going to
    • play a game.
    • practise gerunds and present continuous 
    Note -  This game can be downloaded as a ppt file below. The ppt version can be done as a class game and the gap-fill version could then be done individually to practise spelling. It can also be done after looking at this post here - Present Continuous (with gif images)



    1) Discuss
    How many action verbs can you think of?
    Say them with -ing
    eg stand = standing, jump = jumping...
    Act them

    Jump and Slide (Quiz Game - Beginners / Elem)

    A beginners quiz game to practise making questions

    Individuals or teams see an answer and must ask the correct question.
    An elementary version is here Jump and Slide 2 (Quiz Game - Elementary)
    A pre-intermediate version is here Jump and Slide 3 (Quiz Game - Pre-Int) 

    Students should see the questions / answers "board" projected on an interactive whiteboard (if so they can come out and "touch" the numbers to play) or on a screen.
    Students could also play it on tablets if available.


    Note
    1) You can download the "board" below and print it as A3. Teams throw a dice, land on a square and answer the corresponding question. If correct, they move a piece (as in a traditional snakes and ladders style game) until they arrive at the "end".

    2) Or you can do it as revision quiz without the board
    It can be downloaded as a ppt file below and adapted.

    Play
    1. Click anywhere to start
    2. Throw a dice. 
    3. Move your piece. 
    4. When you land on a square (on your printed sheet), click on the number in the game below and ask the right question. 
    5. Click again anywhere on the screen to see if your answer is correct.
    6. Click the blue triangle (bottom right) to go back to the home "game" page.
    7. Continue until you reach the end.

    What's this? (Memory Game)

    Game for beginners

    You can
    • play it as a team quiz (use a dice to move from 1 - 25) and answer the question for each number (like Snakes and Ladders)
    • choose a number and go from left to right or top to bottom (Like Blockbusters). When you have a line of correct answers you win.
    • answer all the questions as a normal quiz 
    • play it again as a memory game after you have played it once (eg can you remember? What's number 7?)
    • invent your own game
    • download it as a ppt and adapt it (see below)


    Instructions
    1. Look at the presentation
    2. Download it as a ppt file
    3. See how many you remember. Click play to start.
    4. Click on a number on the numbers page (page 2) and answer the question which appears.
    5. Click on the question page again to see the answer.
    6. Click on the triangle to return to the numbers page and repeat.

    What Britain Loves

    You are going to
